Sprayed overlays are a decorative and durable way to transform plain or worn concrete surfaces. The process begins with cleaning and preparing the slab, followed by spraying a thin polymer-cement mixture across the surface. Patterns are created using tape, stencils, or custom templates, which are removed after spraying to reveal joints that mimic stone, brick, or tile.

Troweled & Stained Overlays

Troweled and stained overlays are a decorative concrete technique that transforms ordinary slabs into surfaces resembling natural stone or tile. The process begins with surface preparation, followed by the application of a thin cementitious layer. While still workable, the overlay is scored into patterns such as tiles or random stone layouts, giving structure to the design.

Who We Are

OUR STORY

In 2001, a family vacation changed everything. While away, our dad—then a successful home builder—spotted a crew installing a decorative concrete overlay. Intrigued, he walked over, asked questions, and even jotted down the name from the bag of materials they were using. A few weeks later, we were on a plane to Florida for hands-on training.

What began as a side project soon became a passion. Our eye for quality and craftsmanship, paired with our growing expertise, transformed decorative concrete of virginia from a part time hustle into our full-time calling.

In 2010, our good friend Landon—who had been running his own landscaping business—partnered with us. Together, we expanded into polished concrete and commercial coatings, adding even more ways to bring beauty and durability to floors across Virginia.

Today, Decorative Concrete of Virginia is still family-owned and built on the same principles that started it all: hard work, quality craftsmanship, and treating every project like it’s for our own home.

It started with a spark of curiosity… and grew into a legacy of concrete artistry.
