Classic Knockdown

The Classic Knockdown sprayed overlay is a decorative concrete finish known for its simple application and practical benefits. This is a perfect finish for surfaces where you don’t want to add one more competing pattern. It compliments rock and brick homes without adding one more clashing pattern to your landscape.

Sprayed Pattern

Sprayed overlay patterns are a decorative technique that give concrete the look of stone, brick, or tile while maintaining the strength of a modern overlay. The process starts by taping or stenciling the surface to form the desired layout, then spraying the overlay mix across the entire area. A knockdown finish is applied to soften the texture and create a comfortable, slip-resistant surface, while the tape is removed to reveal clean lines that mimic real masonry.

Troweled and Stained

A troweled and stained concrete overlay is one of the best ways to transform plain or damaged concrete into a custom, high-end finish. Our process begins by grinding away the failing surface to expose clean concrete, creating a solid base for the overlay. Once prepped, we prime the surface and apply a cement-based overlay by hand trowel. This technique produces a seamless texture with natural movement, similar to Venetian plaster, but designed to hold up outdoors.

Troweled Patterns

Troweled concrete overlays are a versatile way to give old or plain concrete a completely new look. By applying a thin cement-based overlay and finishing it with hand trowels, we can create surfaces that resemble natural slate, stone, or a seamless plaster-like finish. The process begins with thorough surface preparation to ensure a strong bond, followed by layering and troweling techniques that add depth, texture, and character to the concrete.

Stamped concrete is a system that duplicates natures texture with incredible realism and durability. It’s a great way to add value that will last. All of our stamps are classic time tested patterns that will never fade or go out of fashion. Who We Are

OUR STORY

In 2001, a family vacation changed everything. While away, our dad—then a successful home builder—spotted a crew installing a decorative concrete overlay. Intrigued, he walked over, asked questions, and even jotted down the name from the bag of materials they were using. A few weeks later, we were on a plane to Florida for hands-on training.

What began as a side project soon became a passion. Our eye for quality and craftsmanship, paired with our growing expertise, transformed decorative concrete of virginia from a part time hustle into our full-time calling.

In 2010, our good friend Landon—who had been running his own landscaping business—partnered with us. Together, we expanded into polished concrete and commercial coatings, adding even more ways to bring beauty and durability to floors across Virginia.

Today, Decorative Concrete of Virginia is still family-owned and built on the same principles that started it all: hard work, quality craftsmanship, and treating every project like it’s for our own home.

It started with a spark of curiosity… and grew into a legacy of concrete artistry.
