Metallic Epoxy is Perfect for Covering Ugly Concrete Floors
What started as a simple metallic epoxy project turned into a complete concrete remodel — and that’s exactly the kind of challenge we thrive on. This floor had layers of carpet glue, patchwork, and even slopes from the building’s old butcher shop, but through grinding, shot blasting, pouring self-leveling overlays, and repairing cracks, we rebuilt the surface from the ground up. The result was a stunning three-color metallic epoxy floor finished with a durable urethane top coat. Projects like this show that even the most worn-out, uneven concrete can be transformed into a beautiful, long-lasting surface with the right process and craftsmanship.

Reviving Old Concrete – From Grocery Store to Gorgeous
On this project, we transformed the old concrete slab of a former grocery store into a completely new look. After extensive grinding and prep, we installed a moisture vapor barrier and built out a custom floor system — including bold metallic epoxy in the entry and conference areas, and clean stained and white epoxy finishes in the storefronts. Even with tricky design requests like marbleized white and multi-color metallic blends, the results came together beautifully. This job shows how even the most challenging commercial concrete floors can be resurfaced into durable, modern finishes that stand out.

AquaZoo (formerly Seaquest) – 12k Feet of Epoxy
We transformed the floors of a new aquarium inside a 40-year-old mall, pouring over 12,000 square feet of metallic epoxy in 12 custom colors. From grinding and repairing the old slab to installing a moisture vapor barrier and finishing with a durable urethane topcoat, this project shows how epoxy can bring creativity, strength, and long-term performance to even the largest commercial spaces.

Who We Are

OUR STORY

In 2001, a family vacation changed everything. While away, our dad—then a successful home builder—spotted a crew installing a decorative concrete overlay. Intrigued, he walked over, asked questions, and even jotted down the name from the bag of materials they were using. A few weeks later, we were on a plane to Florida for hands-on training.

What began as a side project soon became a passion. Our eye for quality and craftsmanship, paired with our growing expertise, transformed decorative concrete of virginia from a part time hustle into our full-time calling.

In 2010, our good friend Landon—who had been running his own landscaping business—partnered with us. Together, we expanded into polished concrete and commercial coatings, adding even more ways to bring beauty and durability to floors across Virginia.

Today, Decorative Concrete of Virginia is still family-owned and built on the same principles that started it all: hard work, quality craftsmanship, and treating every project like it’s for our own home.

It started with a spark of curiosity… and grew into a legacy of concrete artistry.
